The Problem

No problems here, just a customer coming in for her regular oil change. This engine's an absolute breeze to change it on, and can be done in less than 30 minutes.

The Solution

Take off your oil cap on top of the engine. Start by jacking the car up on the driver's side. You'll see a little notch right under the front door, near the wheel well. This is a jack point. Lift it up, and slide your oil drain pan under the car where you'll be emptying the oil.

Using a 15mm socket, undo your drain bolt labeled "1." in the photo below and let the oil empty out. Then, use an oil filter wrench to twist off your oil filter and allow it to empty in the drain pan as well.

Once empty, replace and tighten the drain bolt. (Not too tight) Apply a smidge of new oil with your finger to the new oil filter rubber ring, and screw it on. (I always just get it super hand-tight. Use the oil filter wrench if you don't feel it's enough, but don't overtighten.)

Conclusion

After all that, just fill up with 5 quarts of oil and you're ready to roll! You can also use 0W-20 oil with this engine.
